Yoga Junkies
get on your mat • get hooked.
Who are we
The Yoga Junkies were created in 2018 to share the passion that we have for yoga. Vinyasa is our first love and both Junkies were trained by the incomparable Melanie Castleman of Melanie Castleman Yoga, in conjuction with Steven Heyman from YogaWorks. We are registered with Yoga Alliance as RYT-200 teachers and we are committed to teaching yoga in a safe and fun environment, with a keen focus on alignment and safe transitions to ensure an enjoyable and fulfilling yoga practice which minimises the risk of injuries.
Everyone is welcome, whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner.
“Asanas (yoga poses) bring perfection in body, beauty in form, grace, strength, compactness, and the hardness and brilliance of a diamond.”
Patanjali
What is Vinyasa Yoga?
Vinyasa yoga is a broad term used in yoga, the sanskrit word can be translated as "to place in a special way". Vinyasa Flow traces a direct lineage through Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, founded by Sri K Pattabhi Jois.
Vinyasa Yoga connects breath with movement as we flow from one yoga asana (or pose) into the next. Vinyasa sequencing can be calm and restorative, or fast paced and energetic. Unlike Ashtanga Vinyasa, which has a set sequence, vinyasa flow yoga can be sequenced to focus on standing postures, shoulders, hip openers, back bends and so forth to ensure a fun and creative time on your mat.
